Frugal Eyeglasses – A Fresh Alternative
A few years ago, I had Lasik surgery. I hated spending so much money each year on contacts and glasses, but what could I do? I needed to be able to see and I did not want to look like a complete dork (even though I will never win Man of the Year or anything). I literally spent a few hundred dollars each year. Unfortunately, I think my eye site may be slipping a bit. I may need glasses again soon.
Over the past few years, I have learned to be a lot more frugal when it comes to my spending. Sometimes this can be difficult since I still have high standards when it comes to quality. A recent New York Times article discusses how to get the products you need without spending a small fortune.
I did not realize that you could get such cool eyeglasses as cheaply as you can now. I think I spent $300 of my last pair of glasses 10 years ago. Now you can get a stylish pair for $40. From zennioptical.com (who was mentioned in the previously mentioned NY Times Article) I found these:
I don’t know about you, but these are pretty sweet. I had a similar style before my surgery and, if I ever need to wear glasses again, will get something like them. Lightweight and fashionable, yet under $50. I honestly did not think it was possible.
Is your eyesight getting worse? Is sitting in front of a computer hours at a time puttting a strain of your vision? When you do decide to get new glasses, shop around before handing over too much money. In this economy, you can use that money elsewhere a lot more wisely.
